IMPROV PROGRAM
Crossroads offers a variety of longform improv courses with some of the best instructors in the Indianapolis area and beyond at a price point and commitment level that is easy on all students. We have courses for people just that just want to have some fun for a couple hours each week, people that want to build valuable life and professional skills, and regular improvisers looking to challenge themselves and realize their full potential as performers and artists.
Our longform improv program consists of four courses. Each course builds on the last and culminates in an improv format known as the Harold, which uses all the improv skills you’ve developed. Then there are optional electives which you can take based on your experience and preferences. In addition to our own electives, we also invite guest instructors who offer courses through our program both in-person and online.

IMPROV BASICS DROP-IN CLASS
COURSE LENGTH: 1 Day, 1.5-2hrs | PREREQUISITE: None! | REGISTRATION: $20 | PAYMENT PLAN: N/A
This one day, Improv Basics workshop for adults will teach you the building blocks of improv in a fun and supportive environment. You will see that improv is not just for performers, but is for everyone. This workshop is perfect for people that have no idea what improv is, want to get an idea of what to expect in a full course, or just want to have fun for two hours and meet some new people. Absolutely no experience necessary!

BEGINNER IMPROV COURSES
COURSE LENGTH: 8 Weeks, 2hrs per week | PREREQUISITE: None! All are welcome! | TUITION: $229 – $279 | PAYMENT PLAN: Yes!
IMPROV 1: IMPROV FOR EVERYONE. This is where you start when you have no experience or would like to start Crossroads from the ground up. In this 8 week, in person class you will learn skills that go beyond the stage. If you are looking to become a better listener, improve public speaking skills, build self confidence, explore your creative side, meet new people, start your path to becoming a performing improviser, or simply have fun for two hours a week – we got your back!
This class is for everyone and will introduce you to the building blocks of improv in a fun, supportive, and welcoming environment with the best instructors in the Indianapolis area. This course includes free admission to our live shows in Indianapolis for the duration of the course as well as an optional performance to celebrate your improv journey. For ages 18 and up.

IMPROV 2
COURSE LENGTH: 8 Weeks, 2hrs per week | PREREQUISITE: Crossroads Improv 1 or Permission | TUITION: $229 – $279 | PAYMENT PLAN: Yes!
IMPROV 2: THE HEART OF THE SCENE. In this 8 week intermediate level class you will build on the basics of longform improv you learned in Improv 1. You will learn new and additional ways to create characters, expand your world on stage, ground your work through acting, connect with your scene partner, and have fun! You will leave this class with both new and improves skills to make you a more well rounded performer. If you have no interest in performing, you will still see personal and business skills exercises such as communication, collaboration, expressing yourself creatively, building confidence, and more.

IMPROV 3
COURSE LENGTH: 8 Weeks, 2hrs per week | PREREQUISITE: Crossroads Improv 2 or Permission | TUITION: $229 – $279 | PAYMENT PLAN: Yes!
IMPROV 3: FINDING THE FUN. This eight week course dives deeper into Crossroads approach to improvised scene work. Students will learn various ways to find and play with the funny in a scene and how to build on it to create scenes that are as much of a joy to be in as they are to watch. Students will also dive deeper into on the spot character creation, how to initiate more clearly, and how to support more fully. You do not need to aspire to be an improviser to take this course. Some of the skills practiced in this course that go beyond the classroom are listening, teamwork, agreement, observational skills, and more. This course ends with an optional class performance.

IMPROV 4
COURSE LENGTH: 8 Weeks, 2hrs per week | PREREQUISITE: Crossroads Improv 3 | TUITION: $279 – $329 | PAYMENT PLAN: Yes!
IMPROV 4: INTRO TO THE HAROLD.Get ready to dive into the most famous improv format of all time – The Harold! This eight-week, performance level course is entirely focused on the Harold – a fast-paced, ensemble-driven structure that challenges and sharpens every improv skill you’ve gained in Improv 1, 2, and 3. You’ll flex your muscles in scenework, group games, second beats, the game of the scene, character work, and more. It’s like a full-body workout for your brain. This course is taught by experienced iO Chicago Harold performer and Crossroads founder, Mike Marbach.

Crossroads occasionally offers one-day workshops, intensives, and other courses that fall outside our core improv program track. These classes can include offerings taught by people in town with something great to share, visiting instructors passing through, and master classes with the people who literally wrote the books on improv.

IMPROV PRACTICE GROUPS
Are looking to stay fresh between classes, to study with a different instructor, or mix it up with students from other classes or experience levels – then our improv practice groups are for you. These improv practice sessions are exclusively for Crossroads improv program students and are coached by instructors from Crossroads and other invited guests. At only $20 per session, improv practice groups are a great way to get more experience with expert guidance while having a fun time doing it!
